The Security Detail View gives you further information about a security in your Portfolio. You can review My Holdings, Security Details, a Quote, and your Transaction History, and view a graph of the security's performance over time. You can also use it to Update the reporting on the security and to view News & Analysis.
Open the Security Detail view
You can open the Security Detail view in the following ways:
-
From your Portfolio, select a holding and then select Security Detail.
-
Right-click a security's name and choose Security Detail. Security names support this menu on the Investing Dashboard, in the Asset Allocation and Allocation by Security cards, and in the Capital Gains Estimator.
The right-click menu also includes Edit Security and Edit Share Price, so you can open a security's editor or update its price from the same place.
What the Security Detail view shows
My Holdings
This section provides information about the shares you hold in the selected security, including Shares Held, Market Value, Cost Basis, Gain, % Change, and Avg. Cost Per Share.
Security Details
This section shows the security's Name, Symbol, Type, and Asset Class. To change these details, select the Edit button and update any appropriate information.
Quote
If price quotes are available for the security, the latest price and related quote information appear here.
Transaction History
This section lists the transactions you have made involving the selected security, with columns for Date, Account, Action, Shares, and Price. Transaction History is only available for securities that you own, not for securities on your Watchlist.
Tracking chart
The tracking chart displays the security's price history or market value, and you can adjust the time span.
Tracking chart settings
Two settings change how the chart appears:
-
Split Adjust: Adjusts the number of shares and the share prices to reflect stock splits, so your portfolio accurately represents the impact of these events. This keeps historical data consistent by recalibrating share quantities and prices after a split.
-
Y-Axis starts at zero: Turn this on for a consistent comparison of the share price, and turn it off to highlight small differences and maximize chart space.
Viewing transactions in the register
When using Detailed investing (positions and transactions), you can double-click an investment transaction to see it in the register. This option is not available for Simple investing (positions only). For some investment accounts, only Simple investing is available.
How the tracking method affects what you see
The visibility of data in some fields depends on the investment account tracking method. To see information in these fields, the account must be set to Detailed (positions and transactions). If it is set to Simple (positions only), some fields appear blank. For some investment accounts, only Simple investing is available.
