About the Securities window
Use the Securities window to manage your securities list in one place. You can filter the list to show only what you currently hold, mark items for your watchlist, and hide securities you no longer want to see.
Open the Securities window
You can open the Securities window from the menu bar using Window > Securities.
Find securities quickly
The top of the window includes a filter and a search field so you can quickly narrow the list.
Filter the list
Use the filter menu to choose what you want to see:
Show All Securities shows everything in your list (including items you might not currently hold).
Currently Held Securities shows only the securities you currently own.
Search the list
Use the Search field to filter the list by text (for example, part of a security name or symbol).
Understand what the list columns mean
The list displays one row per security. Column names can vary by view, but you’ll typically see:
SECURITY: The security name.
SYMBOL: The ticker symbol (if available).
TYPE: The security type (for example, Stock, Mutual Fund, Index).
ASSET CLASS: The asset class assigned to the security.
CURRENTLY HELD: A checkmark indicates you currently hold the security.
WATCHLIST: Select this to track a security even if you don’t currently hold it.
HIDDEN: Select this to hide a security from your main list.
You can also sort the list by clicking a column header.
Control which quotes Quicken downloads
The checkbox Download quotes only for Watchlist, indexes & securities held controls whether Quicken limits quote downloads to a smaller set of securities.
If the checkbox is selected, Quicken downloads quotes only for watchlist items, indexes, and securities you hold.
If you clear the checkbox, Quicken asks whether you want to maintain the download list yourself.
When prompted, choose one of the following:
No, let Quicken do it to keep Quicken managing the list automatically.
Yes, I’ll do it to manage which quotes get downloaded.
Manage securities from the toolbar or shortcut menu
You can perform common actions from the toolbar at the bottom of the window or by Control-clicking a security.
Common actions
These actions appear in the toolbar and/or shortcut menu (depending on selection):
New Security to create a security.
Edit Security to change details for the selected security.
Delete Security to remove a security you no longer need.
Merge Securities to combine duplicate entries (typically available when you select more than one security).
Add to Watchlist to start tracking a security.
Hide Security to remove a security from your main view without deleting it.
If you’ve hidden securities, use Show Hidden to temporarily display them so you can review or unhide them.
