Overview
The Dashboard is your starting point for understanding what is happening with your finances and deciding where to look next.
It brings together financial summaries, individual accounts, and tools so you can move from a high-level view to the details behind it.
The Dashboard includes four main areas:
-
Tiles highlight financial activity, trends, and items that may need attention.
-
The Account List lets you focus on a specific account.
-
The Navigation Menu opens tools for specific financial questions and tasks.
-
Dashboard controls provide access to updates, notifications, Help, Settings, and your Profile.
You do not need to use every area each time you sign in. Start with the information most relevant to the question you are trying to answer.
The information and tools available may vary based on your Quicken subscription, connected accounts, and setup.
Use Tiles to Notice What Is Happening
Tiles appear in the main area of the Dashboard and summarize information such as transactions, spending, bills, investments, taxes, invoices, and net worth. Click on them if you wish to investigate further.
They can help you quickly recognize:
-
Activity that needs review
-
Changes in spending, income, networth
-
Upcoming payments or recurring activity
-
Business activity such as invoices, income, expenses, or estimated taxes
Select a transaction, amount, chart, link, or other available element when you want to understand what is behind the summary.
You can choose which tiles appear and how they are arranged. See Customizing Your Dashboard for more information.
Use the Account List to Focus on One Account
The Account List appears on the left side of the Dashboard. It displays the accounts and account groups you have connected.
Depending on your setup, it may include:
-
Checking and savings accounts
-
Credit cards
-
Investment accounts
-
Loans and liabilities
-
Property and asset accounts
-
Business accounts
-
Personal and business account groups
Use the Account List when your question relates to one account rather than your finances as a whole.
For example:
-
Select a credit card to investigate a charge or review recent purchases.
-
Select checking to understand deposits, payments, or changes in your balance.
-
Select an investment account to review its activity or holdings.
-
Select a business account to focus on business income and expenses.
Looking at one account can help you determine whether a change is isolated to that account or part of a larger financial pattern.
Use + New or + Account, to add another account.
See Customizing Your Dashboard for information about arranging accounts and account groups.
Use the Navigation Menu to Answer a Financial Question
The Navigation Menu on the far left opens your main tools and detailed work areas.
Use it when you already know what you want to understand or accomplish.
For example:
-

The Navigation Menu is useful when the Dashboard helps you identify a question and you are ready to explore it more deeply.
Refresh Your Connected Accounts
Refresh appears at the bottom of the Navigation Menu. Use it to request the latest available balances and transactions from your connected financial institutions.
Keeping your account information current is especially important when you are reviewing recent spending, checking available balances, or preparing for upcoming payments.
Use Refresh when:
-
A recent transaction does not appear.
-
An account balance looks out of date.
-
You have not signed in recently.
-
You want to confirm that your connected accounts have updated.
Very recent transactions may not appear immediately because each financial institution determines when new information becomes available.
Use Dashboard Controls to Keep Information Current and Manage Quicken
Additional controls in the upper right provide access to account updates, assistance, and settings.
Depending on your setup, you may see:
-
Ask Assist: Ask questions about your finances or Quicken when the feature is available.
-
Notifications: Review alerts, updates, and items that may need attention.
-
Help Center: Search Quicken Help and Quicken University or access available support options.
-
Settings: Manage accounts, categories, tags, recurring activity, transaction rules, business information, and other preferences.
-
Profile: Manage your account, appearance, achievements, Dashboard options, and sign-in settings.
Keeping your financial information current is important when you are making decisions based on balances, spending, upcoming payments, or recent activity.
Examples
Investigating a Credit Card Charge
Taylor notices an unfamiliar charge in Recent Transactions. Taylor selects the credit card from the Account List to see the surrounding activity and determine whether the charge is expected.
Understanding a Change in Spending
Alex notices that spending is higher than usual. Alex opens the Spending Report to see which categories changed and whether the increase is temporary or something that may affect the monthly plan.
Preparing for a Tax Payment
Morgan sees an estimated tax amount on the Dashboard. Morgan opens Tax Planner to review the estimate and make sure enough money is available before the payment is due.
Following Up on an Invoice
Riley notices an unpaid invoice in Invoices Overview. Riley opens the invoice and then uses Sales & Billing to review its status and decide whether to follow up with the customer.
Choosing Where to Go
When you are unsure where to begin, match the question to the part of the Dashboard that can help:
-
What is happening? Start with the tiles.
-
What is happening in one account? Use the Account List.
-
What financial question do I want to answer? Use the Navigation Menu.
-
Is my information current or do I need help or settings? Use the Dashboard controls.
The goal is not to review everything. Use the Dashboard to find the information that matters to you, understand what it means, and take the next useful step.
