Using Quicken Assist

Overview

Quicken Assist helps you understand and act on your financial data inside Simplifi.

It brings together:

  • Your real financial data

  • Simplifi tools (transactions, Spending Plan, goals, bills, investments, watchlists)

  • Financial knowledge and reasoning

  • Real-time web search for relevant news and best practices

The result is guidance tailored to your situation—helping you move beyond tracking your money to understanding what it means and what to do next.

Note: Quicken Assist is currently in beta and available in Simplifi (coming soon to Quicken Business & Personal). It is continuously improving and may occasionally misunderstand a request or attempt something it can’t yet do. If that happens, start a new chat and try again.

Why It Matters

Managing money isn’t just about tracking—it’s about understanding.

Quicken Assist helps bridge the gap between:

  • What happened (your transactions and balances)

  • What it means (patterns, changes, and trends)

  • What to do next (actions, adjustments, and planning)

Instead of manually reviewing reports or digging through transactions, you can ask direct questions and get answers tailored to your financial situation.

How Quicken Assist Works

Quicken Assist uses a combination of your Simplifi data, built-in tools, and financial reasoning to respond to your questions.

Because it works within the context of your actual finances, its answers are specific to you—not just general financial guidance.

Some requests provide insights only, while others allow you to take action directly within Simplifi.

What You Can Do with Quicken Assist

Quicken Assist is designed around real financial questions you’re likely to ask.

Understand your spending

Ask why spending changed, compare time periods, or check if you’re on track.

Example:
“Why did my grocery spending increase last month?”

Build a debt payoff strategy

See your total debt, compare payoff approaches, and estimate timelines.

Example:
“What happens if I add $200/month to my credit card payments?”

Plan for upcoming expenses or goals

Evaluate affordability and understand how a decision affects your cash flow.

Example:
“Can I afford a $5,000 vacation this summer?”

Understand your investments

Review allocation, diversification, and recent changes.

Quicken Assist may also include relevant market news, but provides educational context only—not personalized investment advice.

Run “what if” scenarios

Test financial decisions before making them.

Example:
“What happens if my income drops by 10%?”

Spot patterns and trends

Identify overspending, irregular categories, or subscription creep.

Example:
“Which categories do I overspend in most often?”

Review subscriptions and recurring costs

Get a clear picture of ongoing commitments, including annual impact and recent changes.

Example:

“How much am I spending on subscriptions each year?”

Navigate Simplifi and Take Action

Use Quicken Assist as a shortcut to:

  • Open tools like Spending Plan or Reports

  • Find uncategorized transactions

  • Create savings goals

  • Update up to 50 transactions at a time

What Quicken Assist Cannot Do

Quicken Assist has important limits:

  • It cannot modify external bank accounts

  • It cannot create custom reports or export files

  • It cannot take actions outside of Simplifi

  • It does not provide tax or legal advice

  • It does not retain memory across new chat sessions

Guidelines for Getting the Best Results

Ask specific questions

More detail leads to better answers.

Instead of:
“What happened with my spending?”

Try:
“Why did my restaurant spending increase in March?”

Start a new chat when needed

If responses become slow or unclear, starting a new chat resets context and improves accuracy.

Use past conversations for reference

Previous chats are available in the sidebar, even though they don’t carry forward into new sessions.

Share feedback

Use the thumbs up or down on responses to help improve Quicken Assist.

Review before acting

Quicken Assist can help you explore options and model scenarios, but it’s important to review financial decisions before taking action—especially when working with projections or planning changes.
