Resizing the Sidebar

Quicken lets you resize the sidebar to have more room to work on transactions in the register. You can either shrink the sidebar to suit your space requirements or switch to a thin sidebar that gives the maximum space to work with the register.

Did you lose your sidebar?

Sometimes people accidentally collapse/close their sidebar and don't know how to restore it.

If you have collapsed your sidebar, click the icon to expand it again. You can also do this by going to the View menu and selecting Show Sidebar.

To resize the sidebar

Follow these steps to drag the sidebar to a custom width.

1. Hover your pointer at the divider of the sidebar.

2. When the resize cursor appears (a horizontal double-arrow), click and hold the divider.

3. Drag back or forth to adjust the sidebar width. As you shrink the sidebar, balances will disappear.

4. Grow the sidebar to display the balances again.

5. Release the mouse button to set the new size.

Resize the Separate Accounts section

If you use Separate Accounts, you can adjust that section's height in the sidebar to better organize your account view.

1. Hover over the divider above the Separate Accounts section.

2. When the resize cursor appears (a vertical double-arrow), click and hold the divider.

3. Drag up or down to adjust the section height.

4. Release the mouse button to set the new size.

Change the sidebar text size

You can adjust the text size in the sidebar to suit your preference. This setting affects only the sidebar, not the rest of the Quicken window.

1. At the top of the sidebar, click the ... (three-dot menu).

2. Select Sidebar Text Size.

3. Choose one of the following sizes:

   • Tiny

   • Small

   • Regular (default)

   • Medium

   • Large

   • Extra Large

The sidebar text updates immediately. You can change it again at any time using the same steps.
