Projected balances

The cash flow graph in Bills & Income under Projected Balances shows your projected account balances over time. Use it to monitor account trends, analyze the impact of recurring expenses on your balances, and plan ahead.

The chart works best when you have scheduled transactions for both bills and income, so the graph reflects money coming in as well as going out.

Filters

Three drop-down menus on the filter bar control what the chart and scheduled transaction list display. When you change any filter from its default, a Clear Filters button appears so you can reset all filters at once.

  • Next Instance. Controls the time period the chart covers. Options range from Next 7 Days to Next 10 Years. Select Custom Dates... to set a specific date range.

  • All USD Accounts. Controls which accounts are included. For best results, include only the accounts you use for paying bills and receiving income -- typically your checking accounts. This ensures the chart reflects how much cash you have on hand to pay bills. Accounts are grouped by currency. Select an individual account, all USD accounts, or all CHF accounts. A Simple-Tracking Accounts section appears at the bottom of the list if you have any.

  • Any Type. Filters the chart and list to show Spending transactions, Income transactions, or both.

Scheduled transaction list

Below the chart, you'll see the scheduled transactions used to calculate it. The list shows the date, payee, category, amount, running balance, and account for each transaction. Check Y-axis starts at zero in the upper right of the chart area to anchor the y-axis at zero, which makes the scale of balance changes easier to read.

To edit a scheduled transaction, double-click it in the list, or select it and click Edit on the register toolbar.
