Deleting data files
Quicken Classic for Mac does not offer a way to delete data files from within the application. If you no longer need a file, you must delete it manually using Finder, just like any other file on your Mac. This topic explains how to do that safely and suggests alternatives in case you're simply trying to switch, archive, or rename a file.
Before you delete
Make sure the file isn’t open in Quicken. Quitting Quicken ensures the file can be safely removed.
If you want to keep a backup, choose File > Save a Backup... in Quicken before deleting the file.
Note: Quicken Classic for Mac data files typically end in
.quicken
. File names often include your file name and may appear as “My Finances.quicken.”
