Bulk Editing Transactions

Overview

Sometimes you need to make the same change to more than one transaction. Instead of editing each transaction individually, you can select multiple transactions and update them all at once.

Bulk editing is a fast way to clean up imported transactions, organize expenses, or correct information across several transactions in just a few clicks. It's especially useful after downloading transactions from your bank or credit card, when you notice several transactions that all need the same update.

When Should You Use Bulk Editing?

Use bulk editing whenever several transactions need the same change. Instead of repeating the same edit over and over, you make it once and apply it to every selected transaction.

You can bulk edit properties such as:

  • Reviewed status

  • Payee name

  • Category

  • Tags

  • Notes

  • Follow-up flags

  • Exclusion status

  • Client and Project assignments (Business & Personal)

Examples

Clean up newly imported transactions

You download a month's worth of credit card transactions and notice that several restaurant purchases were imported without a category. Select all of the restaurant transactions, assign them the Dining category, and apply the change to every transaction at once.

Standardize a payee name

Your bank imported the same merchant using different names, such as AMZN Mktp, Amazon Marketplace, and Amazon.com. Select those transactions and update them to a single payee name so your transaction history and reports stay organized.

Organize business expenses

After returning from a client conference, you select all of your travel-related purchases—hotel, meals, parking, and airfare—and assign the same Client & Project and Business Travel tag to every transaction. This keeps your records consistent and makes it easier to review expenses or prepare invoices later.

Bulk Edit Multiple Transactions

  1. In Transactions, select the checkbox next to each transaction you want to edit.

  2. Click the More (three-dot) menu above the transaction list.

  3. Select Bulk edit transactions.

  4. Select the transaction property (or properties) you want to update.

  5. Enter or select the new value.

  6. Click Apply.

Tip: Bulk edits apply the same change to every selected transaction. Before clicking Apply, confirm you've selected only the transactions you want to update.
