Overview
The Net Worth Dashboard shows how your net worth changes over time, but it can also help you understand what contributed to the changes.
Use the chart views, time periods, account categories, and individual account comparisons to answer questions such as:
-
When did my net worth change?
-
Did the change come from my assets, my debt, or both?
-
Which type of asset or debt changed?
-
Which individual accounts contributed most to the change?
To open the dashboard, select Net Worth from the navigation.
Select a Time Period
Use the time-period options at the top of the dashboard to choose the period you want to review:
-
1M—One month
-
3M—Three months
-
6M—Six months
-
1Y—One year
-
5Y—Five years
-
QTD—Quarter to date
-
YTD—Year to date
-
All—All available history
Choose a shorter period to investigate a recent change. Choose a longer period to evaluate your overall financial progress and place short-term fluctuations in context.
The dashboard displays the dollar and percentage change for the selected period.
Review Your Net Worth Total and Trend
Select Total net worth from the chart dropdown in the upper-right to see your current net worth and how it changed during the selected period.
Use this view to answer:
-
Is my net worth generally increasing or decreasing?
-
How much has my net worth changed?
-
Was the change recent or part of a longer trend?
-
Were there any unusually large increases or decreases?
A change in net worth can come from several sources. Your investment values may change, your cash balances may rise or fall, or your debt may increase or decrease. Use the additional chart views to narrow down the cause.
Compare Assets and Debt
Select Assets vs. debt from the drop-down chart menu in the upper-right corner of the net worth graph to compare the two sides of your net worth.
Use this view to answer:
-
Did my net worth change because of my assets, my debt, or both?
-
Are my assets growing faster than my debt?
-
Is paying down debt improving my net worth?
-
Did a decline in asset values offset progress I made reducing debt?
Once you know whether assets or debt contributed most to the change, explore the relevant category for more detail.

View a Total or Compare Accounts
When you select an asset or debt type, use the view icons next to the chart dropdown to change how the information appears.
-
Total view shows the combined balance and trend for the selected account type.
-
By account view separates the total into individual accounts. Each account is represented separately in the chart.
Use Total view when you want to understand how an account category is performing as a whole.
Use By account view to answer:
-
Which account contributed most to the change?
-
Are all accounts in the category moving in the same direction?
-
Did one account decline while another increased?
-
Which account should I review more closely?
Examples
Maria notices that her net worth declined during the month. She selects Assets > Cash & Checking and sees that her cash balance—not her investments—accounted for much of the decrease. She can then review the affected checking account to investigate the transactions behind the change.
Sam sees that his total Cash & Checking balance declined. He selects Assets > Cash & Checking, then switches to By account view. The chart shows that his business checking account decreased while his personal checking account increased, helping him identify which account to review.
Review the Accounts Section
The Accounts section below the Net Worth graph groups your included accounts by type, such as Cash & Checking, Savings, Brokerage, Retirement, Vehicle, Credit Cards, and Loans.
Each group shows:
-
The combined balance of the accounts in the group
-
The dollar amount of the change during the selected period
-
The percentage change during the selected period
-
The number of accounts in the group
Select a group to view its individual accounts. Each account shows its current balance and change during the selected period.
Use this section to confirm which account groups and individual accounts contributed to a change shown in the chart.

-
Switch to By account view to identify the accounts that contributed to the change.
