Use multiple currencies
You can track account balances in different currencies in Quicken Classic for Windows. This is helpful if you use international accounts or make purchases in foreign currencies and want to keep them organized in one data file.
Turn on multicurrency support
Before you can use foreign currencies, you need to enable multicurrency support in preferences.
Go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
In the left pane, select Calendar and currency.
Select the Multicurrency support checkbox.
Click OK.
After enabling this setting, you can view and manage a list of available currencies and their exchange rates.
Open the Currency List
The Currency List lets you add or remove currencies and set the exchange rate for each one.
Go to the Tools menu and select Currency List.
To change a rate, select a currency and click Edit.
To mark a currency as your home currency, select it and click Home.
To download a current rate (when available), click Update.
Note: Exchange rates apply when Quicken calculates totals across currencies. They do not change the amounts recorded in individual accounts.
Currency behavior in accounts
When you create a new account, you can choose a currency other than your home currency.
Once a currency is assigned to an account, it cannot be changed.
Accounts with foreign currencies are tracked in their original values and included in net worth and reports based on exchange rates.
To use a different currency for an existing account, create a new account and transfer the balance manually.
