If you frequently record transactions in more than one currency, you can assign a shortcut letter to each currency. Then, instead of selecting the currency manually, you can enter the amount followed by the shortcut letter directly in a payment or deposit field.
Enable multi-currency support
If you don’t see Currency List under the Tools menu, you’ll need to enable multi-currency support.
To enable it:
-
Choose Edit > Preferences.
-
In the left pane, select Calendar and currency.
-
Under Currency, check the box labeled Multicurrency support.
-
Click OK.
The Currency List option now appears under the Tools menu.
Assign a shortcut letter to a currency
Shortcut letters are managed in the Currency List.
To assign a shortcut:
-
Choose Tools > Currency List.
-
In the Currency List window, right-click the currency you want to edit and choose Edit.
-
In the Edit Currency window, enter a single letter in the Shortcut letter field.
-
Click OK.
Each shortcut must be unique. The shortcut appears in the Key column of the Currency List.
Enter a transaction using the shortcut
Once a shortcut is assigned, you can use it when entering a transaction:
-
In the Payment or Deposit field, type the amount immediately followed by the shortcut letter.
-
For example, if E is the shortcut for Euros, type 50E to enter a payment of 50 Euros.
