How do I set up Quicken.com alerts?

For many investment alerts, Quicken works with Quicken.com to provide up-to-date investing information. To use these features, you first need to activate Quicken Cloud services, and then export a portfolio or a Watch List to Quicken.com. You can export just your ticker symbols if you would prefer not to export your actual holdings to Quicken.com.

Once you've set up Quicken.com investment alerts, simply download them into Quicken with your quotes and news, or view them on Quicken.com, away from your Quicken desktop.

  1. Choose Tools menu > Alerts Center > Setup

  2. Click the plus sign to expand the Investing section.

  3. Make sure Price and Volume is selected.

  4. On the right side of the dialog, click the Go to Quicken.com to customize price and volume alerts link.

  5. To ensure that your Quicken and Quicken.com portfolios contain the same information, Quicken connects to the Internet and copies your selected Quicken data to Quicken.com. Click Done after reviewing the Online Update Summary.

  6. On your Quicken.com Alerts page:

    • Click the name of the portfolio that you want to set up alerts for.

    • You can set alerts for Price and Volume, Announcements/Industry Buzz, and Overall Account Value.

    • Instructions for setting up individual alerts are available online: For help, click Explain next to the alert.

Notes

This feature requires Internet access.

Some alerts are set by default; for example, the Percentage Price Change alert is already set to notify you if the price of any of your stocks rises or drops by more than 5 percent, or if the volume of trading changes by more than 300 percent. If you want to change these trigger values, enter new values in the fields. Alerts turned on by default are indicated by check marks. If you don't want to use the alert, click to clear the check mark.

You can configure Quicken.com to display alerts only when you click on the Alert icon, or any time there is a new alert that meets your specifications. If you choose the latter option, Quicken.com displays a new window with the alert information on it.

Quicken relies on accurate and complete data to derive reliable performance measures. To view certain performance measures, it may be necessary first to replace placeholder entries with complete historical data.
