About the Alerts Center
The Alerts Center in Quicken Classic for Windows lets you set up local alerts that notify you of account activity, financial thresholds, deadlines, and reminders. These alerts appear only within the software—they do not generate email or text messages.
Open the Alerts Center
You can access alerts from the desktop application.
Go to the Tools menu.
Select Alerts Center.
The window includes two tabs: Show All and Setup. Use Show All to review active alerts and Setup to create or edit alert conditions.
Types of alerts
You can set alerts for a range of financial and account-based events, organized by category:
Banking – Minimum or maximum balances, credit card limits, monthly expenses, savings goals
Investing – Download reminders, maturity dates, price thresholds, capital gains/losses
Taxes – Estimated payments, Schedule A/B/C deadlines, and other tax-related dates
General – Scheduled bill payments, online transactions, insurance and mortgage reappraisal reminders
Tip: Use the Setup tab to enter values, thresholds, or dates for each alert.
Alert display options
You can choose how each alert is displayed:
Text in the alert list – The alert appears in the Alerts Center.
Urgent (pop-up dialog box) – A pop-up window appears when the alert is triggered.
You can also set how long alerts stay visible using the Keep the alert in the list for drop-down.
Note: These alerts are for use inside the software only. They do not send notifications by email or text message.
