How do I delete a memorized payee?
If you find that there are payees that you never use anymore, you can delete them from the Memorized Payee List (this won't affect previously recorded transactions that use the deleted payee). If not cleaned out periodically, the Memorized Payee List can become very long and unwieldy.
Delete one or more memorized payees directly from the Memorized Payee List
Choose Tools menu > Memorized Payee List.
Select the payee you want to delete.
Click Delete, and then click OK to confirm the deletion.
Notes
What happens when I delete a payee? Is it always deleted right away?
After you complete the steps above, the payee is removed from the Memorized Payee List. Any register transactions that used the memorized payee remain intact.
You can also specify the number of months of no usage, after which Quicken removes unlocked memorized payees from the Memorized Payee List.
Is there a quick way to delete several payees?
To select several payees:
Hold down the CTRL key and click each payee that you want to handle in the same way.
If the payees you want to select are all adjacent to each other, click the first one, hold down the SHIFT key, and then click the last one.
What if I just need to standardize names of similar downloaded payees?
If you need to remove payee names because some of the payees from downloaded transactions have similar names or contain unnecessary detail (for example, Anytown Coffeehouse 005 PLEASANTON 945 versus Anytown Coffeehouse), consider using renaming rules.
What if the payee I want to delete is part of a transaction group?
If the payee you delete is part of a transaction group, Quicken removes the payee from the transaction group.
Have Quicken delete memorized payees that haven't been used recently
Choose Edit menu > Preferences.
In the left pane, click Data entry and QuickFill.
Select Remove memorized payees not used in last [x] months, and enter the number of months after which unused payees will be deleted.
Note
This setting only affects unlocked payees.
