What was your market value the day before that big spike in the NASDAQ? The day after? The Security Detail View shows the price history of an individual security; the Portfolio can do the same for your portfolio as a whole. The Portfolio Value vs. Cost Basis snapshot tracks the relationship between these two important indicators.

Create a Portfolio Value Report

The Portfolio Value Report in Quicken is a tool to view the current value of a portfolio of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other investment assets. The report provides information about the total value of the portfolio, as well as information about individual investments within the portfolio. You can sort by any column and view lot detail. 

To create a Portfolio Value Report in Quicken:

  1. Open Quicken and navigate to the Portfolio tab.
  2. Select the desired portfolio from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Reports and choose Portfolio Value.
  4. Select the desired date range and other options such as currency, performance calculation method, etc.
  5. Select Create Report.
  6. The report will be displayed, showing the value of the portfolio over time, as well as information about individual investments.

Notes

  • The report will only be accurate if the portfolio is up to date and all transactions have been properly recorded in Quicken.
  •  Select Show Lots from the controls at the top of the report to see your tax loss harvesting opportunities. Sort the report using Gain/Loss column.
