Calculating whether or not your plan works

If in any retirement year you have a cash shortfall and you don't have enough investments to cover the shortfall, your plans fails. If you are covering pre-retirement cash shortfalls by selling investments, a lack of investments to cover a shortfall in any year constitutes a plan failure. You are told so in Results.

If you reach the last year in your plan with $0 or greater in investments, your plan is successful. To make your plan work, you must actually save the money and invest it wisely to produce the anticipated target rate of return you selected.
