About managing rental property

The Rental Property feature in Quicken Classic for Windows helps landlords track the financial details of rental ownership in one place. It is designed for individuals who rent out single-family homes, apartments, or multi-unit properties and want to manage income, expenses, tenants, and leases using the same financial tools they rely on for personal budgeting.

What landlords need to manage

Owning rental property involves more than collecting rent. Even for small landlords, it includes keeping accurate records of rental income, tracking maintenance and repair costs, managing lease agreements, handling security deposits, and preparing for tax time. Staying organized helps you meet financial and reporting obligations while maintaining a clear view of your property's performance.

How Rental Property Manager supports rental tracking

Rental Property Manager builds on Quicken’s financial tools with features designed specifically for rental businesses. It lets you link transactions to properties and tenants, giving you a clear view of income, expenses, and tenant status for each unit. This structured approach makes it easier to monitor performance over time.

Tools included in the Rental Property feature

Quicken’s rental property tools include:

  • Rent Center – A dashboard showing rent due, rent received, and tenant payment status.

  • Property List – A summary of your rental properties and the individual units within each one.

  • Tenant List – A database of tenant information, including lease terms, rent amounts, and contact details.

  • Lease and deposit tracking – Built-in fields for lease start and end dates, rent terms, and security deposits.

  • Rental-specific reports – Reports such as Profit and Loss by Property, Schedule E, and Rent Roll to support planning and tax preparation.

Why these tools matter

Tracking your rental activity within Quicken helps you make informed decisions and stay tax-ready. By associating income and expenses with specific properties and tenants, you can monitor profitability, follow up on late payments, and prepare accurate reports without maintaining a separate spreadsheet or system.

Version availability

Rental Property Manager is available only in the Business & Personal version of Quicken Classic for Windows. If you don’t see the Rent Center, Property List, or other rental-related features, confirm which version you’re using.
