How do I edit a rental property?
You can update rental property details at any time. Quicken lets you change the name, address, property type, linked accounts, and more—without affecting historical transactions.
You can open the property from either the Rental Property tab or the Rent Center tab:
On the Rental Property tab, click Properties & Tenants, then choose Show Property List.
On the Rent Center tab, click Properties & Tenants, then choose Show Property List.
Select the property you want to update, then click Edit.
Update basic property details
Use the Edit screen to modify the name, address, or type of the property.
Property name – Appears in reports and Rent Center summaries. If you change it, rename the linked house account manually to match.
Address – Used for documentation and reports only; doesn't affect calculations.
Property type – Choose Single unit or Multiunit, but you cannot reduce the number of units if there are transactions tied to them.
Why can’t I see my rental property?
If the Hide property checkbox was selected for a property, it won’t appear in the Property List. Select Show hidden properties to reveal it.
Change from multiunit to single unit
You can only switch a multiunit property to a single unit if all units have been removed.
A unit can be deleted only if:
There are no transactions associated with it.
It has no tenants assigned.
If a unit has transactions, either delete them or reassign them to the property tag. If it has tenants, reassign them to another unit or property first.
How do I reassign unit transactions?
Edit each transaction and select the property tag instead of the unit tag.
Hide a rental property
To stop actively managing a property without losing your historical data, you can hide it.
Select the Hide property checkbox to:
Remove it from Rent Center, reports, and property menus.
Retain all historical transactions with their original tags.
This is preferable to deleting a property you no longer use.
Update the house account link
You can link the property to a different house account that isn’t already linked to another property.
Manage property documents
To edit or review attached documents:
Select the Property Documents tab.
Click the gear icon beside the document you want to edit.
Take the desired action, then click OK.
Save your changes
Click OK to apply your updates. Repeat these steps for any other properties you need to edit.
