This section lists some of the most frequently asked questions about Quicken ID.
Is it mandatory to set up a Quicken ID?
A Quicken ID is mandatory to use Quicken. In addition to accessing Quicken desktop, you can access Quicken online services and get notifications for free updates.
Where is my Quicken ID saved?
Your Quicken ID is linked to your Quicken data file. If you make a backup or save your data file to another location, your Quicken ID will be linked there, too.
Important: Your Quicken password is never stored in your data file. It is securely stored on your Mac Keychain (Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access).
Is my Quicken ID secure?
Quicken uses industry-standard bank-level encryption to keep your information safe. Your Quicken ID is completely secure.
I forgot my Quicken ID
To retrieve your Quicken ID:
- In Quicken, choose Preferences > Connected Services to view your existing Quicken ID.
- Click the Edit Account button to go to a Quicken.com account sign-in page in your web browser. Click the I forgot my Quicken ID link and follow the instructions to reset your ID.
I forgot the password for my Quicken ID
If you forget your Quicken password:
- In Quicken, choose Preferences > Connected Services.
- Click the Edit Account button to go to a Quicken.com account sign-in page in your web browser. Click the I forgot my password link and follow the instructions to reset your password.
I already have a Quicken ID. Do I need to create another one?
Maybe.
You can use the same Quicken ID in Quicken 2015 or newer (Windows or Mac versions).
If the last version of Quicken you used was before version 2015, you will need to create a new Quicken ID.
If I have a Quicken ID, is my financial information automatically synced to the cloud?
No. You need to enable mobile to sync to the cloud. You can do this either during registration by opting for mobile and web sync or later from the Quicken > Preferences > Mobile, Web and Alerts tab.
Is my Quicken ID required to update my Quicken software?
Yes. We recommend that you update your Quicken software whenever updates are available for critical enhancements and fixes.
