Connected Services settings

The Connected Services section in Quicken for Mac provides you with options to manage your Quicken ID, Cloud Account, and Downloaded Transactions. This area is essential for enabling and managing online services that integrate with Quicken. By understanding and configuring the Connected Services settings, you can make the most out of your Quicken experience.

Quicken ID

Your Quicken ID is your unique user identification that allows you to access all Quicken applications, Quicken Mobile, and Quicken on the web.

Changing Your Quicken ID

Select Edit Account. Your Quicken account details will appear in a browser. Select Sign In & Security from the sidebar. Click Change under Quicken ID and follow the instructions.

Cloud Account

Your Cloud Account stores financial data that Quicken Mobile or Quicken Web can access. You do not have to use a Cloud Account if you do not want to have your information available through Quicken mobile and web apps. Cloud information is secure and encrypted.

Managing Your Cloud Account

  • Nickname: You can designate what you want to call your cloud account.

  • See All Cloud Accounts: Get a list of any accounts you have stored in the Quicken Cloud.

  • Reset: Discard any Quicken Connected Services data in the Quicken Cloud and replace it with the information on your desktop.

Downloaded Transactions

Managing downloaded transactions effectively is crucial for accurate financial tracking. Quicken for Mac provides several options in the Downloaded Transactions section to help you fine-tune how your financial data is imported and displayed. Here's a closer look at these settings.

Automatically Improve the Quality of Downloaded Payee Names and Categories

When enabled, this option allows Quicken to automatically clean up the names of payees and the categories associated with them as they are downloaded from your financial institutions. This can include removing extraneous numbers or codes, and standardizing naming conventions.

This feature is helpful if you're dealing with a large volume of transactions and want a cleaner, more consistent record. It helps in reducing the time you'd spend manually correcting or organizing payee names and categories.

Use Posted Date for Matched Transactions (Instead of the Date You Enter Manually)

Activating this option will use the posted date from your financial institution for any matched transactions instead of the date you may have manually entered. The posted date is when the transaction officially cleared your account.

This can be beneficial if you want your records to align precisely with your official bank statements. It reduces discrepancies between your manual entries and the actual posted transactions, making reconciliation processes smoother.

Automatically Update Investment Quotes Every 60 Minutes

When this setting is on, Quicken will automatically update the market quotes for your investments every 60 minutes. This ensures that your portfolio values are up-to-date without requiring you to manually refresh or update the data.

This feature is particularly useful for active investors who want near-real-time insights into their portfolio performance. It's also convenient for those who like to keep an eye on the market throughout the day but don't want to manually update their quotes constantly.
