Budgets settings
The Budgets settings in Quicken for Mac offer various customization options to suit your budgeting needs. These options enable you to choose the visual layout and style of your budget, making it easier to track and manage your finances. Here are the configurable sections:
Budget View
Select Show Cents if you want to display items in your budget down to the number of cents, otherwise it rounds to the dollar.
Layout
The layout of your budget determines how the various categories and line items are displayed on the screen.
Stacked
When the Stacked layout is selected, your budget elements appear in a vertically stacked arrangement. When there are multiple numbers to display for an entry, they display on top of each other.
Side-by-Side
Choosing the Side-by-side layout option means that entries with multiple numbers display them side-by-side.
Bar Style
Bar style affects the graphical representation of your budget, particularly how bars appear in budget graphs.
None
Selecting the "None" option will eliminate all graphical bars, leaving you with only numerical values to assess your budget.
Graph Remaining
The Graph Remaining setting adds bars that represent the remaining budget for each category. This graphical representation can show you what you have left to spend or save.
Graph Actual
Choosing the Graph Actual setting will display bars representing actual income or expenditure for each category, giving you a view of your financial behavior against your budget.
Highlight
The Highlight feature emphasizes specific parts of your budget to make them easier to identify.
None
Selecting None will leave the budget display without any special highlighting.
Headers Only
When Headers Only is selected, only the headers for each budget section will be highlighted, making it easier to distinguish between different sections.
Row and Header
Choosing Row and Header results in the row and its corresponding header being highlighted. This facilitates horizontal reading and makes it easier to follow individual budget lines across categories.
Row and Column
The Row and Column option highlights both the row and the column, which can be beneficial for tracking data horizontally and vertically within your budget.
