What if my budget report is wrong?
If your budget report seems incorrect, it’s usually due to the date range or the budget period used in the report settings. These issues can cause misleading totals, especially if the report cuts off partway through a month.
The budgeted amount looks too low
Quicken adjusts budget amounts based on the report’s date range. If the report doesn’t cover the full period for which you’ve set a budget, the budgeted amount will appear lower than expected.
Use cases:
You budgeted $600 per month for groceries, but the report only shows $300 budgeted halfway through the month.
You’re running a quarterly budget report and the budgeted total seems to cover only part of the period.
To correct this:
Open the report.
Click Customize.
Set the To date to the last day of the budgeting period (such as the last day of the month or quarter).
Click OK to update the report.
This ensures the full monthly or quarterly budget is shown in the report.
The report is using the wrong time period
If you're using a saved report, the date range saved with it might not match what you currently need. Budget reports don’t automatically adjust the period when reopened, so it’s important to verify the settings before using the report again.
Use cases:
You saved a report showing year-to-date values, but now want to view only the current month.
You copied a report template from last year and forgot to update the report dates.
To fix this:
Open the saved report.
Click Customize.
Update the Date Range to reflect the time period you want to analyze.
Click OK to refresh the report.
Updating the date ensures your report reflects the period you're trying to analyze.
