What if I entered a transactions in the wrong account and need to move it?
You can move transactions to a different account using several methods, depending on the type of account and number of transactions involved.
Move a transaction using the Move command
You can move one or more transactions directly in most banking account registers.
To move one or more transactions:
Open the account containing the transaction(s).
Select the transaction(s) you want to move:
Use Shift + click or Ctrl + click to select multiple transactions.
Right-click one of the selected transactions and choose Move transaction(s)
—or—
Choose Edit > Transaction > Move transaction(s).Select the destination account and click OK.
Note: The Move transaction(s) command is only available in banking account registers. You can’t use it to move transactions into or out of investing, loan, asset, or liability accounts.
Copy and delete transactions
You can also copy transactions to the correct account and then delete them from the original.
To do this:
Open the original account and select the transaction(s).
Right-click and choose Copy transaction(s).
Open the correct account, right-click where you want the transaction to go, and choose Paste transaction(s).
Return to the original account and delete the old transaction(s).
Use QIF export and import for unsupported account types
Some account types don't support the Move command or transaction paste. In those cases, you can export and import using a QIF file.
To use QIF export/import:
Export the transactions as a QIF file.
Import the QIF file into the correct account.
Note: QIF import is not supported for checking, savings, 401(k), or brokerage accounts. If you need to import into one of these accounts, refer to the updated import solution available in Quicken.
