When this box is checked, all of the animation effects in Quicken are turned on.

    Automatically Minimize Pop-up Windows

When this box is checked, features that display in a Quicken pop-up window minimize when you click outside the pop-up area (for example, on a menu or on the Quicken Toolbar).

Use flat scrollbar in bank registers (takes effect on restart)For some users, the new modern-style scrollbars do not function as expected. If you are having issues with the scrollbars, you can use this preference to switch to the older flat style of scrollbar.
Use New Subscriber settings for new files, accounts, features
New Subscriber settings provide you with more guidance to using the product, as well as simplifying the interface. (See What do New Subscriber settings do below.)

What do New Subscriber settings do?

New Subscriber settings are designed to help you get to know Quicken.

This includes:

  • Quicken Setup, a step-by-step guide to getting started with Quicken.
  • Simple Tours, also called Q Cards, that show and explain to you some of Quicken's most-used features.
  • Automatic One Step Update when you start Quicken. This ensures you see the latest transactions when you begin a session.
  • A simplified view. Quicken hides some columns and Tabs (areas of the project) so that you see the essential parts of Quicken first.

You can change any of the individual settings that control these features using your preferences, or you can turn off the New Subscriber settings using the instructions at the top of this help topic.

How long should I use New Subscriber settings?

You can turn this setting off and on whenever you choose. Use these settings for as long as it takes for you to feel comfortable using the product. At a minimum, we advise you to try to complete the Quicken Setup steps before turning off the New Subscriber settings.

Can I keep some but not all of these settings?

Yes. All of the New Subscriber settings represent individual preferences that can be turned off and on at Edit menu → Preferences.
