About backing up and restoring Quicken data files with a CD
You should be able to use the standard backup procedure to back up your Quicken data file. If the process doesn't work as expected and you get messages such as "Unable to access the disk in Drive [X,]" "Disk not ready," or "The device is not ready," then the CD probably isn't formatted correctly. If you're unable to resolve these errors with the manufacturer's instructions for your CD-ROM drive software, your best bet is to use a workaround to bypass the CD formatting requirements.
Notes
- What if there is a CD problem when I back up or restore my Quicken data file?
- The solutions for backing up to CDs may also work for DVDs. If the CD solutions don't resolve your DVD errors, try using the workaround to back up to a CD.
