Examining report details

Use QuickZoom to drill down into report data, making it easy to analyze the transactions behind totals, subtotals, and other summarized values. QuickZoom lets you move between reports, the Details view, and your account register, so you can find discrepancies, track spending, and review your finances in more detail.

View transaction details from a report

  1. Open a report from the Reports tab. If you need help finding a report, see Accessing Reports in Quicken for Mac.

  2. Click an amount in the report:

    • If the amount represents a single transaction, clicking it opens the transaction directly in the account register, where you can review or edit it.

    • If the amount is a subtotal, a total, or another combined value, clicking it opens the Details view, which lists every transaction that contributes to that value. This includes totals that span more than one category, such as Total Inflows or a report's grand total. In that case, the Details view lists the transactions from each contributing category.

Using QuickZoom from an account register

QuickZoom also works from an account register. Click a transaction row to open a Transaction report that shows the transaction alongside your broader account activity, grouped by account. Use this when you want to see a transaction in the context of a wider set of transactions, rather than reviewing it on its own in the register.

  • Identify spending patterns: Drill into category subtotals to see the specific transactions contributing to major expenses.

  • Verify income sources: Click an income total to confirm payment deposits and track their sources.

  • Check for errors: If a report balance looks incorrect, use QuickZoom to find missing or miscategorized transactions.

  • Prepare for taxes: Use QuickZoom in tax reports to confirm deductible expenses and make sure all relevant transactions are included.
