Accessing Reports in Quicken for Mac

Reports in Quicken for Mac can be accessed through multiple methods, whether you are looking for a quick summary, a standard report, or a custom analysis. This guide follows a progressive structure, starting from the top-level access points and moving into the detailed options within the Reports interface.

Accessing Reports from the top-level navigation

Using the Reports Tab

Click the Reports tab at the top of the Quicken window.

  • This will open the All Reports section, displaying report categories and available reports.

  • The last viewed report will automatically appear when you revisit this tab.

Using the top menu bar

Click Reports in the top menu bar.

From the menu list, you can locate all the popular reports and navigate deeper for other reports. This brings up a report in a new window without taking you to the Reports tab.

Navigating the Reports tab

Once inside the Reports tab, the interface is divided into sections that help you manage and customize reports.

All Reports Section

  • The default view displays All Reports, showing a categorized list.

  • Use the Search All Reports bar in the top-right to quickly find a report.

Recently Opened Reports

  • Click Recently Opened in the left sidebar to see a list of reports you've accessed recently.

  • Select any report to open it instantly.

My Reports (Saved & Custom Reports)

  • Click My Reports in the left sidebar to access saved custom reports.

  • If you’ve organized reports into folders, they will appear here.

Browsing Report Categories

On the left sidebar under Quicken Reports, reports are grouped into categories:

  • Popular – Frequently used reports.

  • Transaction – Detailed transaction breakdowns.

  • Summary – High-level financial overviews.

  • Comparison – Side-by-side financial comparisons over time.

  • Crosstab – Reports that cross-analyze financial data.

  • Net Worth – Reports tracking net worth over different periods.

  • Tax – Reports useful for tax preparation and filing.

  • Business – Reports related to business finances (for Quicken Business & Personal users).

  • Other Reports – Additional reports that do not fit in the above categories.

To view reports in any category:

  1. Click the category in the left sidebar.

  2. Select a report from the list.

Using the EasyAnswer Section (Guided Report Creation)

  • Click EasyAnswer in the left sidebar.

  • This section provides pre-built reports based on common financial questions, such as:

    • Where did I spend my money?

    • How much did I spend?

    • Has my spending changed?

  • Select a question, adjust filters (e.g., time period, category), and click Run to generate the report.

Creating a New Report

To create a custom report from scratch:

  1. Click the + New button in the top-left corner.

  2. Choose a report type:

    • Transaction Report

    • Summary Report

    • Comparison Report

  3. Customize the report using filters such as accounts, categories, and time range.

  4. Click Save to store it under My Reports for future use.

Business Reports (For Quicken Business & Personal Users)

Business Reports are available from within the Reports interface. You may also access them from your Business Dashboard.

  1. Click the Business tab at the top of the Quicken window.

  2. Navigate to the Business Dashboard to view business-specific financial summaries.

  3. Business reports are also accessible from Quicken Reports > Business in the left sidebar.
