Visualize business income and expense trends with graphs
The Profit/Loss view in the Business tab includes several graphs that help you track income, expenses, and profitability over time. These visual summaries give you insight into how your business is performing and where your money is going.
View graphs in the Business tab
To access business-specific graphs:
Select the Business tab.
Click the Profit/Loss subtab.
If you have more than one business, select the one you want to view from the drop-down menu at the top.
Use the tabs below the financial summary to switch between graph types.
Quicken includes the following graphs in this view:
Income, Expenses & Profit/Loss graph – Compares monthly income and expenses and shows the resulting profit or loss.
This gives you a quick snapshot of whether your business is operating in the black or red for the current month.Spending by Category – Displays a pie chart of expense categories for the selected month.
Use this to understand where most of your money is going and to identify cost drivers that may need review.Spending by Payee – Shows a pie chart of expenses by payee.
This helps you see which vendors or contractors account for the majority of your spending.Income vs. Expenses over time – Compares income and expenses across multiple months in a column chart.
This view helps you identify seasonal trends and spot shifts in profit margins over time.
Click Show Full Graph below any chart to view an expanded version. The data updates automatically based on the selected month and business.
Generate reports from these views
To see the same data in report form, select the Report button below the graph area or use the Reports dropdown in the upper-right corner of the Business tab. You can then run more detailed reports that match the selected graph, such as profit/loss statements or income by category.
Explore other graphs in Quicken
If you're looking for broader visual reports, go to Reports > Graphs from the main menu bar. This menu includes additional graphs such as:
Spending by Payee or Category
Current Spending vs. Average Spending
Income and Expense by Payee or Category
Budget and Net Worth graphs
Investment performance and asset allocation
These graphs are useful when you want to compare personal and business data together or need more advanced historical analysis.
