Business
Quicken Business & Personal includes tools for managing business income, expenses, billing, and taxes—all in the same file as your personal finances. You can set up accounts for one or more businesses, track customer payments, generate custom forms, and create reports to monitor your business performance.
Each feature listed below includes where to find it in the product.
Set up business accounts
Decide whether to manage business and personal finances in the same file or in separate Quicken files. The IRS recommends keeping them separate.
To add business accounts:
Go to Tools > Add Account, then select Business accounts or Other Assets & Liabilities.
Get started with business tools
Create accounts to track income and expenses. Add customers, products or services, and payment terms.
To access business tools:
Go to the Business tab, then use the Business Tools menu to open Customer Invoices, Business Reports, and more.
Track income and expenses
Use categories and tags to track business revenue and spending. If you manage more than one business, tags let you filter transactions by business name.
To view transactions:
Open the business account register from the Accounts bar.
Track money owed to you
Use Customer Invoices to track what customers owe and when payments are due.
To create or view invoices:
Go to the Business tab > Business Tools > Customer Invoices.
Customize your business forms
You can personalize invoices, estimates, and statements to match your brand.
To edit forms:
Go to the Business tab > Business Tools > Invoice Forms Designer.
Record payments and returns
Use Customer Invoices to record payments, apply refunds, and charge late fees.
To apply payments:
Open an invoice and select Receive Payment.
Track sales tax
Track multiple sales tax rates and view how much you owe.
To set up sales tax:
Go to Edit > Preferences > Quicken Program, then select Sales Tax.
Manage bills and money you owe
Track what you owe to vendors and when payments are due using Bills & Income.
To view or schedule payments:
Go to the Bills & Income tab.
Track jobs and projects
Assign transactions to specific jobs or projects using tags or the Job field.
To add a job name:
Use the Tag or Job column in your transaction register or invoice.
Plan your cash flow
Use cash flow reports and graphs to understand how much money is coming in and going out.
To view cash flow tools:
Go to the Reports menu > Business > Cash Flow Report.
Run business reports
Create reports to track business performance, including Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet statements.
To run a report:
Go to the Reports menu > Business, then select a report.
Track mileage
Use the Vehicle Mileage Tracker to log business-related travel for potential tax deductions.
To open the tracker:
Go to the Business tab > Business Tools > Vehicle Mileage Tracker.
