Confirm trip mileage using external mapping tools
Quicken does not include a built-in map or distance confirmation feature in the Vehicle Mileage Tracker. If you need help estimating the distance between two locations, you can use an external mapping tool before entering the mileage manually in Quicken.
The tools below can help you calculate mileage for business, medical, charitable, or rental property travel.
Use Google Maps
Go to https://maps.google.com.
Enter your starting location and destination in the search bar.
Select Directions.
Review the distance shown below the route (e.g., “7.2 miles”).
Enter this number in the Miles Traveled field in Quicken.
Google Maps is a popular option for most users due to speed, accuracy, and mobile access.
Use MapQuest
Visit https://www.mapquest.com.
Select Directions at the top.
Enter your start and end locations.
Click Get Directions.
Copy the mileage value into Quicken.
MapQuest is useful for users who prefer a simplified interface and printable directions.
Use Apple Maps (macOS or iOS)
Open the Maps app.
Type your starting point and destination.
Tap or click Directions, then select a driving route.
Find the mileage listed with the estimated travel time.
Use this value in Quicken.
Apple Maps is best for Mac and iPhone users who want an integrated, app-based experience.
Use Bing Maps
Go to https://www.bing.com/maps.
Click Directions.
Enter the start and end points.
Review the suggested driving distance.
Enter that number into Quicken.
Bing Maps provides similar routing accuracy and interface to Google Maps, with direct integration in Microsoft environments.
Enter the mileage in Quicken
Once you've confirmed the mileage:
Open the Vehicle Mileage Tracker (Business tab > Business Tools > Mileage Tracker).
Either:
Enter total miles in the Miles Traveled field
Or enter odometer readings if known
Select Enter Trip to save
