How do I export tax data to a tax program?
TurboTax can read and import Quicken data quickly and easily directly from Quicken. There is nothing you need to do in Quicken to facilitate this process. Just open TurboTax and respond that you want to import your Quicken data when prompted.
Important
Tax-related transactions without a valid tax line item won't be transferred to any tax software. Run a Tax Schedule report to make sure that all your tax-related transactions use valid categories that are linked to the correct tax line items. Modify every incomplete transaction in the report. If you have purchased Quicken Business & Personal, you can also modify unspecified business expense and income transactions on the Profit /Loss page on the Business tab.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Web version of TurboTax?
Yes. You can also prepare and file your taxes from within Quicken using TurboTax Online. Choose Planning tab > Tax Tools > TurboTax > File your taxes with TurboTax.
What if I use other Windows software to prepare my taxes?
You can export data from the Quicken Tax Schedule report or Capital Gains report to the Windows program that calculates your tax and prints completed tax forms.
- Create a Tax Schedule report if you want to export all your tax data except your capital gains, or a Capital Gains report if you want to export your capital gains to Schedule D.
- On the toolbar, click Export Data.
- Choose To Tax Export File.
- In the File Name field, enter a name for this file. Quicken supplies the correct file extension, which is .TXF (Tax Exchange Format).
