When you first set up a paycheck in Quicken, the Paycheck Setup wizard gives you the chance to enter your year-to-date tax information. If you don't want to add this information during setup, or if you start using Quicken in the middle of a tax year, you can always add this information later.
- If you haven't already done so, enter your most recent paycheck from the Bill and Income Reminders List.
- Click the Planning tab.
- Click the Tax Center button.
- Click Show Tax Planner.
For information about the data you want to enter, click a topic below.
- Wage adjustments
- State/Local Tax adjustments
- In the Tax Planner window, on the left side, click State/Local Tax.
- On the right side of the window, find the details for your year-to-date state withholdings.
- In the Data Source area, click Quicken Data (the label includes the relevant tax year), and then click Use Per Pay Period Amount.
- On your most recent paycheck stub, find the year-to-date total for state and local taxes (these may be reported as two separate values, in which case you may need to add them together for a total). This is the amount that should appear in the Annual Total column. From this amount, subtract the value displayed in the Actual YTD column. The result is the size of the adjustment you need to make.
- In the Adjustment field, enter the adjustment amount, and press the TAB key.
- Federal Tax Withholdings adjustments
Your paycheck 's tax information data is now available for estimating your taxes in the Tax Planner.
