Create a budget for future years

If you're planning for long-term goals—such as retirement, major purchases, or debt repayment—you can extend your current budget into future years. Quicken allows you to add future years one at a time, using your existing budget categories and values as a starting point.

Add a new year to your budget

You can add a future year while viewing your budget in Annual View. Each new year is added based on your current data.

To add a budget year:

  1. Go to the Planning tab and select Budgets.

  2. In Annual View, click the > button next to the current year.

  3. In the Add a Budget for [next year] window, choose one of the following:

    • Copy [year] budget categories and budget values to [next year]

    • Copy [year] budget categories and actuals as budget values to [next year]

    • Copy [year] budget categories only to [next year]

  4. Select OK.

The new year appears in your budget. You can repeat these steps to add additional years, such as 2026 or 2027.

Tip: Your budget will show actual income and expenses for each year as you enter transactions.
