Exporting data to tax software
You can save your tax-related Quicken data into a .txf file. This data in the .txf file can then be imported in TurboTax.
Export data to tax software
To export your tax-related Quicken data to TurboTax or any other tax software, you first need to populate the Tax Schedule report with the required tax-related transactions. For details, refer to Run the Tax Schedule report.
You then need to export this report to a .txf file as explained below:
- On the feature bar, click the Reports tab arrow and from the drop-down menu, select the Tax Schedule report.
- In Quicken, choose File > Export Tax Report. You can also click the Export Taxes.. button on the upper right side of the report.
- Choose the tax year for which you want to export data.
- Click Next.
- If required, enter a new name for the exported file. However, ensure that you retains the .txf file extension so that it can be imported in TurboTax.
- By default, Quicken saves the file in the Quicken folder, inside your Documents folder. If required, provide a different path.
- Click Save. You can now import this report into a tax software such as TurboTax.
Import a tax file into TurboTax
After you have exported your tax-related Quicken data into a .txf file, you can import this file into TurboTax as explained below.
- Open the TurboTax application.
- Choose Import > Accounting Software.
- Select Other Financial Software (TXF file), and then click Continue.
- Select the file you want to import.
