Exporting data to tax software

You can export tax-related transaction data from the Tax Schedule report as a TXF file for import into desktop tax preparation software such as TurboTax and H&R Block. TXF import is not supported by online versions of these programs.

Tip: Before exporting, review the Tax Schedule report to confirm it contains the transactions you expect. See Working with the Tax Schedule report for details on configuring the report.

Export a TXF file

You can export from the File menu or from the report toolbar.

From the File menu:

1. Choose File > Export Tax Report…

2. In the Export Options dialog, select a tax year from the Tax Year dropdown and click Next.

3. In the Save As dialog, enter a file name, choose a save location, and click Save.

From the report toolbar:

1. Go to the Reports tab and select the Tax folder in the sidebar.

2. Select Tax Schedule from the report list, then click Open.

3. Click Export in the toolbar and select Export to TXF file.

4. In the Save As dialog, enter a file name, choose a save location, and click Save.

Import the TXF file into your tax software

After exporting, open your tax preparation software and use its import feature to bring in the TXF file. The import steps vary by program and version. Check your tax software's help documentation for instructions on importing TXF files.
