What if the number of shares of a security in a scenario changes to zero? (Capital Gains Estimator)

The Capital Gains Estimator will change the number of shares to zero for the following reasons:

  • You've sold the security.
  • You've hidden the account the security is in, but there are other lots of the same securities in other accounts.
  • You've altered the cost basis of a security tracked by average cost (for example, by selling some of your shares).

Check to see if any of the above situations apply to the security in question.
