What if the balance of my investment account doesn't include the value of my employee stock options?
Quicken shows two different balances for investment accounts: Current Balance and Ending Balance.
- Current Balance is the value of the account as of today, so it won't show the value of your options until you've reached the first vesting date.
- Ending Balance includes the latest transactions and prices, even if they are in the future. If you have an Expire transaction, the final number of option shares is zero, so the ending balance typically doesn't reflect the option.
In either case, you can adjust the As Of date in the Portfolio to see what your options would be worth after the first vesting date and before the expiration date.
