What if Quicken downloads transactions which are duplicates of existing register entries?

When Quicken downloads transactions, it compares them to existing entries in your register to avoid duplicates. This process is called Compare to Register and usually prevents repeated entries.

If you see duplicate transactions in your register after a download, it means the match wasn’t successful. This can happen if:

  • The manually entered transaction differs in amount, date, or payee

  • The financial institution changed the transaction details after the original entry

  • The account was recently reconnected or reset
