What if nothing prints?

If you're unable to print from Quicken, try the following steps to identify and fix the issue.

Confirm that printing works in Windows

Before troubleshooting Quicken, test whether your printer is working in Windows:

  1. Right-click your printer in Windows Settings.

  2. Select Printer properties (or Properties, depending on version).

  3. Choose Print Test Page.

You can also test by printing from another program:

  1. Open Notepad or WordPad.

  2. Type some sample text.

  3. Select File > Print.

If printing doesn’t work outside of Quicken, the issue is with your printer or Windows configuration. In that case:

  • Make sure the printer is powered on and connected.

  • Confirm that the printer has paper and ink or toner.

  • If it's a network printer, verify network permissions.

  • Use Windows Help to access troubleshooting steps.

If printing works outside of Quicken, continue below.

Check Quicken-specific print settings

  • Check your selected printer:
In Quicken, go to File > Printer Setup, choose the type of item you're printing (for example, reports), and check the Printer field. Make sure the correct printer is selected.

  • Avoid using the Quicken PDF Printer if printing to paper.

  • If you have multiple printers, try setting a different printer as the default in Windows:

    1. Open Settings > Printers & Scanners.

    2. Select another printer and set it as the default.

    3. Return to Quicken and try printing again.

If printing still fails in Quicken

  • Try reinstalling the printer driver. Avoid printer names that include the word “on” (e.g., “HP on XYZ”), which may cause issues in some versions of Quicken.

  • If the problem continues, contact Quicken Support for assistance.
