Select an action for each account

After connecting to your financial institution, Quicken shows a list of accounts it found. Use this screen to decide which accounts to track in Quicken and how to handle each one.

What to do

For each account listed:

  • Review the account name and type
    Check the Account and Type columns to confirm the identity of each account.

  • Choose how to handle the account
    In the Action column:

    • Select Add to Quicken to create a new account in Quicken.

    • Select Link to existing to connect it to an account you already track.

    • Select Don't add to Quicken to skip it (useful for closed, inactive, or irrelevant accounts).

  • Set a nickname (optional)
    In the Nickname in Quicken column, you can rename the account to something meaningful—like “Emergency Fund” or “Primary Checking.”

  • Set the usage type
    Use the Used for column to specify whether the account is for Personal, Business, or Rental purposes.

When you’re finished selecting actions for all accounts, click Next.

Examples

  • You see a savings account labeled Gift Fund XX0000 that you no longer use. Select Don't add to Quicken.

  • You see your main checking account and want to track it in Quicken. Choose Add to Quicken, and optionally rename it Household Checking.

  • You see a credit card that you already track. Use Link to existing and match it to the corresponding Quicken account.
