Securities Comparison Mismatch

Sometimes the holdings in Quicken do not match those downloaded from your financial institution. Quicken shows a mismatch when the number of shares for a security, as reported by the financial institution, does not match what is currently in Quicken. The following scenarios can cause a mismatch:

  • The share balance received from your financial institution changed, but Quicken downloaded no new transactions.
  • The share balance received from your financial institution did not change, but Quicken downloaded new transactions.
  • The share balance received from your financial institution did not change, but one or more transactions were deleted from Quicken.
  • A previously balanced transaction was edited.
  • A new or modified transaction is detected.
  • You missed some transactions because you did not update regularly. Most brokerages limit the history that Quicken is allowed to download.

To resolve the mismatch and create a placeholder entry, click Create a placeholder entry for the difference, and then click OK. If you are unsure about the mismatch and do not want to take any action, click Ignore for now, and then click OK.
