How do I select or change a font?
Customizing Fonts in Quicken
Quicken allows you to personalize the appearance of reports, graphs, checks (cheques in Canada), and other documents by selecting different fonts, with options varying based on the fonts installed on your computer.
Selecting or Changing Fonts
Accessing Printer Setup: Navigate through File menu > Printer Setup and choose the item you're printing (such as Reports/Graphs, Checks, or Invoices).
Choosing Fonts:
- Reports: For title and heading fonts, select Heading Font; for body text, choose Body Font.
- Checks: To modify any text field except the numeric dollar amount, select the font option provided. Note: Due to Check 21 regulations, the numeric dollar amount field is fixed to Arial, Regular, 10 pt, and cannot be altered.
- Invoices/Forms (Quicken Business & Personal only): For the company address, click Company Font; for entered text like line items and customer messages, choose Main Font.
Understanding Font Choices
- Invoice Printer Setup: This dialog allows specifying fonts for invoices not edited in Forms Designer (Quicken Business & Personal only). Fonts chosen in Forms Designer take precedence over Invoice Printer Setup selections.
- Font, Style, and Size: You can change any combination of these elements and confirm by clicking OK.
About the Font List
The font list shows all available fonts on your printer, with style and size options depending on the selected font.
Achieving the Best Results
- Reports and Invoices: Opt for Regular style in sizes 9 to 12.
- Checks: Regular or Bold style in sizes 9 to 12 works best, respecting Check 21 restrictions for the numeric dollar amount field.
Previewing Fonts
View your selections in the Sample box to approximate how they'll appear. Finalize by clicking OK.
Understanding Check 21
The Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act (Check 21) facilitates electronic check processing to speed up clearing times and reduce physical transport costs. It mandates the use of Arial, Regular, 10 pt, for the numeric dollar amount on checks to ensure compatibility with check scanners. Quicken adheres to Check 21 requirements, offering flexibility for other text fields within checks but restricting the dollar amount font and color to ensure compliance.
