How do I figure out where my Quicken data file is?
Quicken data files have a .QDF
extension and are typically stored in your Documents > Quicken folder. However, if you've moved your file or are unsure of its location, use the methods below to locate it.
If Quicken is installed and running
1. Use the File menu to view recent files
Open Quicken.
Select File from the menu bar.
Review the list of recently opened files at the bottom of the menu. The currently open file is marked with a checkmark.
This method is useful if you've recently accessed the file and haven't moved or renamed it.
2. Show the file location in File Explorer
With your data file open in Quicken, select File > Show this file on my computer.
File Explorer will open, highlighting the folder containing your
.QDF
file.
This is the most direct way to locate the file you're currently working with.

Choose to search for all Quicken data files or enter part of the file name using an asterisk (*) as a wildcard (e.g.,
*2024*
).Select the drive or folder to search in.

.QDF
files across your system.
