How do I export data to a QXF file?
You can use the Export to QXF feature when you want to move all your Quicken data to another computer or version of Quicken. For example, if you’re setting up a new computer, you can export your current file as a QXF file and then import it into the new installation to continue where you left off. You can also choose to export only specific accounts—such as just your personal or family accounts—if you don’t want to include everything from your main file.
For example, imagine you’re upgrading to a new computer and want to keep all your Quicken data intact. You can export your entire data file to a QXF file, copy it to your new computer, and then import it to restore all your accounts and transactions. If you only want to move part of your data—such as your child’s bank and savings accounts—you can select just those accounts when creating the QXF file.
About QXF files
You can use QXF to transfer account data between Quicken files. QXF export supports non-investment and non-business accounts, including transactions, scheduled transactions, categories, and tags.
QXF does not support exporting or importing investment or business accounts, budgets, attachments, reports, or application settings.
If you need to move those types of data, use File Export > QIF File instead. For more details, see Exporting Data from Quicken.
To export financial data to a QXF file
You can now choose whether to export all accounts or only selected ones.
Choose File > File Export > Quicken Transfer Format (.QXF) File….
In the Select Accounts to Export window, select one of the following options:
All Accounts – Exports every eligible account in your data file.
Selected Accounts – Opens the account list so you can choose specific accounts.
If you selected Selected Accounts, select the accounts you want to export, then select OK.
In the Export to Quicken Transfer File (.QXF) dialog, enter or confirm the file name and location.
Select OK to create the file. A confirmation message appears when the export is complete.
Notes
Hidden and separate accounts are excluded unless you select them manually.
You can use the exported QXF file to create a new Quicken file that includes only the selected accounts—useful for creating separate data files for family members or specific account groups.
