About the Dashboard
Using the Dashboard
The Dashboard is the default home page for Quicken Classic on the Web, providing a comprehensive overview of your finances at a glance. It features several customizable sections called Overview Cards that summarize key financial information and help you navigate different areas of Quicken for more detailed insights. You can configure the Dashboard to suit your preferences by adding, removing, or rearranging cards to focus on what’s most relevant to you.
Overview Cards
Overview Cards are the individual elements of the Dashboard, each representing a specific financial metric or tool. They give you quick access to important aspects of your finances, such as account balances, recent transactions, top spending categories, and budget status. Each card also serves as a link to its respective section in Quicken Classic on the Web, enabling you to explore your financial data in more detail. For example, selecting the Top Spending Categories card directs you to the Spending page, where you can further analyze your spending habits.
Accounts
The Accounts card provides a high-level view of all your financial accounts, including banking, savings, credit, investments, and property. This card allows you to quickly check both total balances and individual account details like available cash or outstanding credit balances, helping you stay informed about your overall financial position.
Recent Transactions
The Recent Transactions card displays the latest activities across your accounts, such as payments, deposits, or transfers. This feature makes it easy to stay up to date with your finances and review transactions for accuracy or updates.
Top Spending Categories
The Top Spending Categories card visualizes your spending habits through a pie chart, breaking down where most of your money is going each month. Categories, such as shopping or utilities, are color-coded for easy identification. Clicking on a category allows you to explore the related transactions, helping you identify areas where you may want to adjust your spending.
Spending Over Time
The Spending Over Time card shows a bar graph representing your spending patterns over the past few months. This visualization helps you spot trends, such as increased spending during holidays, allowing you to make more informed decisions about your budget.
Budget Summary
The Budget Summary card displays how much of your monthly budget you’ve used and how much remains for each category. This card allows you to track your spending against your goals, helping ensure you do not exceed your financial limits.
Customizing the Dashboard
The Dashboard can be customized to fit your personal needs. You can move, add, or remove Overview Cards to keep your most important financial information readily available.
Moving Overview Cards
To move an Overview Card, simply drag and drop it to your desired position on the Dashboard. For instance, if you want the Spending Over Time card at the top, just select and drag it to the top. Repositioning cards allows you to prioritize the information most relevant to you.
Adding or Removing Overview Cards
To add or remove an Overview Card:
Scroll to the bottom of the Dashboard.
Select Configure Dashboard. A list of available Overview Cards will appear, each with a checkbox.
To add a card, click the checkbox next to its name. To remove a card, deselect the checkbox.
